Accessibility
Last updated: 30 August 2026
We want CYDI to be usable by as many people as possible, and we treat the website and its navigation as something that should work for everyone - not only for a mouse and a pair of eyes. This page describes where that is true today and, just as importantly, where it is not.
What we have built and checked
The following have been verified on the live site, on desktop and on a phone-sized screen:
- Keyboard navigation - the site, its menus and its buttons can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, in a logical order, with no keyboard traps. A Skip to main content link is the first thing Tab reaches on every page.
- Visible focus - whatever has keyboard focus is drawn with a clear outline, rather than leaving you guessing where you are.
- Semantic structure - real headings, landmarks, lists and buttons, so assistive technology can describe and skip through a page instead of reading it as flat text.
- Text contrast - body and interface text is set well above the usual 4.5:1 guideline against its background.
- Zoom and small screens - the site reflows at 200% zoom and on narrow phones without clipping controls and without forcing sideways scrolling.
- Reduced motion - if your device is set to reduce motion, the decorative drawing animations stop.
- Images and icons - decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers, and controls have names that say what they do.
Known limitation: the drawing itself
Drawing a shape in CYDI is a visual, pointer-based task, and we do not currently offer an equivalent alternative for people who use a screen reader. The game asks you to look at a shape, remember it, and redraw it by hand; the score comes from comparing the path you drew against the target. We have not found a way to make that core mechanic meaningfully playable without sight, and we would rather say so plainly than imply otherwise.
So the honest position is: the site, the menus, the pages and the navigation aim to be accessible; the act of drawing is not equally available to everyone. If you have ideas about how that could change, we would genuinely like to hear them.
What this page does not claim
CYDI has not been through an external accessibility audit, and we do not claim conformance with any particular accessibility standard or level. This page describes our own testing only. We would rather under-claim and keep improving than display a badge we have not earned.
Found a problem? Tell us
If something on CYDI is hard or impossible for you to use, please email support@playcydi.com. It reaches the people who make the game. Telling us what you were trying to do, what happened, and what you use to browse (for example a particular screen reader or browser) helps a great deal, but do not worry about getting the details right - a short message is much better than none.
